How we train and inform

Whatever the project and wherever it is active, the CNR has always been primarily concerned with training specialised personnel and informing collaborators, institutions and citizens about its research in the geothermal field, and not only, in order to contribute to creating a sensitive and up-to-date culture with respect to energy and environmental issues. These aims and activities results in:

  • Scientific articles, published for years in the main international journals of reference in the field

  • Books and texts on the subject

  • International School of Geothermal Energy: an ambitious project, active from 1970 to 1992, which trained and specialised researchers from all over the world, including, in particular, several specialists from Latin America, who are now involved in research activities in the sector. From 1992 to 2000, the Institute of Geosciences and Georesources of the CNR in Pisa continued to run specialist courses in numerous countries

  • Short courses, schools and masters. Both in collaboration with the ICS and ICTP Centres of the United Nations, with the Italian Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with several universities, in Italy and worldwide. Among the most recent experiences: School on Geothermics, (October-November 2009, November 2011, December 2015, ICS-ICTP Trieste); Creacion de una actividad de formacion en geotermia en el sistema academico salvadoreno(2008-2010, funded by the Italian Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs); Usos directos de geotermia de baja entalpia (October-November 2010, organized by the Departamento del Agua - Regional Norte and Universidad de la República | Salto - Uruguay)

  • Dissemination activities in Italy and abroad. These include participation in workshops, conferences and seminars

  • Coordination of thematic sessions at major congresses in the sector
